An exciting addition

They may not be the Ghost Leopard heels that Carvela have had me lusting after for months, but these ASOS dupes are excitingly similar. Red, leopard print and a walk able 4 inch heel mean these beauties are not leaving my feet until the part season has ended. As a self-admitted shoe addict, I'm usually able to avert buying that extra pair of shoes because- as my friends and family often remind me- the last thing you need is another pair of shoes. But you can't argue with this design: the purchase was 100% necessary.

University blues

jacket Topshop HERE/ jumper Topshop HERE/ bag Urban Outfitters/ skirt ASOS/ boots Forever21

Brief outfit post today: my University exams are vast approaching so the majority of my days have been spent cramming- as much as I love the Christmas markets and present buying, the festivities will have to wait . Although... I have managed to find some online shopping time and my high street xmas wishlist will be uploaded next week! At least by then I'll be one exam down, wish me luck X

Birthday Love

dress Topshop HERE/ shoes Topshop HERE/ earrings Urban Outfitters

Some late birthday photos as promised- pre birthday drinks, multicoloured macaroons and  my late night outfit. The 60s minimal dress and glitter sandals are from Topshop: the photos don't quite do the dress' shape justice, so you'll have to trust me on this one. It is perfect. Happy Monday!

All black, almost

top Red Label/ jacket FCUK  (sold out) similar HERE/ trousers River Island/ boots ASOS/ bag Mango/ shades ASOS, scarf Zara

Another black outfit from me I'm afraid, as much as I try to venture into other colour schemes I always to return back to this comfort zone. Red Label have struck again with this black piece: all over lace, batwing sleeves and a gathered waist make this the most flattering, and Autumn appropriate, shirt in my wardrobe right now.
Ps: Isn't it nice to see some sun in my photos for once?

Alexander Wang x H&M Excitement

Introducing the 2014 Alexander Wang x H&M collection.
The purse-friendly store has partnered with yet another innovative designer and I cannot wait to shop it: inspired by "sports at night'' Wang's sports-luxe pieces include fitted dresses, cropped jumpers and sky high boots. I think we all enjoy the comfort of workout wear which ensures his collection is ideal for Autumn nights- thick materials, flexible pieces and, best of all, shapes and silhouettes that appear much more expensive than their price tags.
These babies hit H&M stores and online on the 6th November.
What pieces have you got your eye on?

Jacket Weather

jacket Zara/ jumper ASOS/ skirt Zara/ shoes ASOS

Quick outfit post today: my birthday weekend has just passed which may explain the lack of posts, I do however have a ton of photos awaiting to make up for it! On another note this Zara jacket is a new addition to my wardrobe and, as per usual with Zara pieces, I can't get enough of it. For once I'm appreciating Scotland's cold weather.

That one time it was sunny

sunglasses ASOS/ shirt Zara/ skirt Zara/ bag Zara/ boots Missguided HERE

Quick outfit post from a few weeks ago when we actually had sun: Zara had amazing SS14 pieces this year so I'm glad there was, at least, one day I could showcase them. As much as I love dressing in skirts and sandals, I'm welcoming AW14 with open arms- it's definitely time for the jackets and scarfs to make their appearance.

Which Autumn collections are you waiting to wear?

All New for AW

Do you ever hit the high street and unintentionally spend your whole weeks wage? With the new A/W collections hitting the likes of Topshop, Zara and River Island I couldn't resist, and I'm not going to pretend that I regret it either.

Typically I shy away from bold prints but this Topshop shirt was too good to go a miss. The drape front falls perfectly over any cut of trouser and the animal print is- as most Topshop pieces are- a key season trend. Paired with their new cut knee jeans and this perfect ASOS trapeze coat, you have my ideal A/W outfit.

Discussion: Big Brands or Local Boutiques?

Just a quick post today- I'm still finding abandoned Amsterdam posts (hopefully you're not getting bored of them) and yes, this is another one. On our first day my shopping radar spotted a boutique-like, all white store which turned out to be surprisingly inexpensive: the concept is that every piece is thirty five euros. I got talking to the woman working there and she was mentioning how local boutiques were becoming fewer and fewer in Amsterdam, and PING this blog post came to mind.

So where do you shop? Popular retail stores or local clothes shops? I'd like to think that I support the smaller retailers in my area but honestly.. I don't as much as I should. Edinburgh is chalk full of vintage stores and boutiques and I probably should take advantage of them. For me personally it usually comes down to price- since starting University, having spare cash is a distant memory (yes, I'm going to play the skint student card) and smaller stores are typically more expensive than the likes of River Island or Zara. But, at the same time, I think it's very important to support local business- I'm just not in the financial position to do so right now.

What's your opinion on this topic? Do you think it's important to support local retailers?
